” Village people” presents an alternative to a field of single-family houses - a vibrant village. Small-scale housing blocks form cosy, human-scaled quarters with communal courtyards.
Hjertelia scenery is treated with care, as the buildings adapt to the sloping topography. The blocks are connected to a deliberately designed shared space meandering through the whole neighbourhood. Public and commercial functions are located along the shared space, as well as connections to central Hjertelia.
The blocks are designed with sustainable materials and with passive cooling solutions. The apartments are designed to a modular grid, allowing prefabrication. Agriculture is integrated in the village structure: the vertical farming units reduce land use and give the proposal character.
