The clients had a strong vision about the house’s ecological and sustainability issues: the house can be thrown to the biodegradable garbage bin when it comes to the end of its life cycle, the structures have to be durable and sustainable to live in and it has to work as organically as possible. So the building’s frame is made of straw-wood prefabricated panels, wooden facade claddings, clay renderings on the indoors and natural ventilation. At the same time a basic budget was available. The ecological and economical requirements have led the design solutions: there has been set priorities for the room programme and at the same time made possible that parts of the buildings are built later on. Also the client builds parts of the house by themselves saving thus construction costs.

The plot has a strong slope, in which the building is placed in a way that the majority of the existing trees - apple trees and oaks - has been possible to save. The house is placed within the plot diagonally and lift up from the ground. The goal is to touch nature as lightly as possible and the landscaping solutions as organically. At the same time rainwater is collected from the roof for watering the garden diminishing the spill to the city infrastructure. 

The long roof eaves are designed in considering the wisdom of the old traditions covering the facade but made out of them a modern architectural element. Also the simple bitumen roof is used in an interesting way turning the rolls across the slope as if they were large tiles.
